What is HYROX?
The new global fitness challenge that combines strength, endurance and competition.
Have you ever thought about a sport that combines running, strength training and functional movements into one package?
Welcome to the world of HYROX – the sport that has taken Europe and the United States by storm and is now arriving in Finland too.
🔥 What is HYROX?
HYROX is a fast-growing competitive fitness racing sport that combines running and eight functional exercises.
The idea is simple – the training isn't! After every kilometre of running, you complete one strength station.
In total, the race consists of 8 km of running and eight different physical “stations”.
The appeal of HYROX lies in its clear structure and universal race format – wherever in the world you compete, the tasks are always the same.
That makes the sport fair, measurable and genuinely addictive.
🧩 HYROX race format
The race runs like this:
1️⃣ 1 km run
2️⃣ SkiErg – 1000 m
3️⃣ Sled Push – 50 m heavy push
4️⃣ Sled Pull – 50 m rope pull
5️⃣ Burpee Broad Jumps – 80 m
6️⃣ Row (RowErg) – 1000 m
7️⃣ Farmer’s Carry – a kettlebell in each hand
8️⃣ Sandbag Lunges – 100 m
9️⃣ Wall Balls – 100 reps
👉 Weights and distances vary by division (Open / Pro / Doubles / Relay).
👉 Races are held indoors, so they take place regardless of the season.
💪 Who is HYROX for?
HYROX is designed for athletes of all levels – gym-goers, runners, people with a CrossFit or triathlon background and beginners alike.
There is no time cap, so you can complete the race at your own pace.
Divisions and weights are split by level, so everyone finds the right challenge.
HYROX is for you if you:
-
want a versatile way to train and build all-round fitness
-
love measurable results and competing against yourself
-
are looking for a new goal that combines running and strength training
💡 Bonus: HYROX training is also an excellent base for other sports, such as CrossFit, obstacle course racing (OCR), cross-country skiing or triathlon.
