Frequently asked questions

Help choosing grips

Which grips should I choose without chalk?

Rubber-coated Alpha, Elite, Elite Pro, Pure and Vantage work best on steel bars without chalk. Choose by feel, shape and wrist section: Elite’s rubber is softer than Pure, Alpha and Elite Pro; Pure is straight, while Alpha and Vantage are curved. For one pair with or without chalk, choose Stealth.

What is the difference between Elite and Elite Pro?

Both have an angular, widening palm section, protection at the base of the thumb and a padded wrist section. Elite is 2 mm thick with softer rubber. Elite Pro is 2.7 mm thick with firmer rubber, the same as Pure and Alpha. Explore Elite Pro

What is a hybrid grip?

Hybrid grips can be used with or without chalk. LEAGUE Stealth combines rubber, aramid fibre and soft microfibre, with a feel like Elite. Best hold is achieved without chalk.

Can RX Carbon and Comfy be used without chalk?

We do not recommend it. RX Carbon and Comfy are designed for chalk; their surface can be slightly slippery without it. Always use them with chalk. Comfy’s microfibre also grips better when damp.

Can grips be used on rings or climbing ropes?

We do not recommend rubber-coated grips for rings, where your palm needs to slide a little. For rings, choose RX Carbon and Comfy, and many use Comfy as a second pair alongside rubber grips. Do not use grips for rope climbs.

How do I choose between L and XL?

League grips come in L (15 cm) and XL (16 cm), measured from the palm base. L generally suits women and smaller hands; XL generally suits men. Choose XL for very long fingers or larger hands, L for very small hands.

Do I need wrist sweatbands under my grips?

Not necessarily. League grips have padded wrist sections for comfort without sweatbands. If your wrist or thumb base rubs easily, choose Vantage, with its extra-supportive 4 mm wrist section.

How should I care for my grips?

Wipe the rubber palm surface occasionally with a damp cloth: a clean surface grips best. Hand wash gently if needed. Store loosely in their bag or with room to breathe so they dry between sessions.

How long do grips last and when should I replace them?

Typically 6–9 months: over a year with lighter use, or under 6 months with very heavy use. Replace rubber grips when they lose their hold or the underlying aramid fibre shows. Replace chalk grips when the palm surface wears through.
